Attorney Carlos D. Palmer, a native of Greenwood, Mississippi, is the son of Carl and Paulette Palmer. He is married to the former Tangala LaNiece Hollis, and they have two children, Courtney and Carlos II.
Attorney Palmer attended public schools in Greenwood, and in 1994, he graduated 3rd in his class from Greenwood High School.
In 1998, he earned a degree in English/Pre-law from Tougaloo College and graduated with highest honors. In 2002, Attorney Palmer obtained his law degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law. In May 2010, he earned his Masters of Arts in Teaching degree from Mississippi Valley State University.
From 2002-2004, Attorney Palmer worked as a law clerk with the Mississippi Court of Appeals in Jackson under the Honorable Tyree Irving. He then worked for three years in private practice in Greenwood. Attorney Palmer was a solo practitioner from 2007—2015. He presently practices law with his wife at Palmer Law Services, LLC, which has offices in downtown Greenwood and Grenada, Mississippi.
Attorney Palmer has served as Justice Court Judge for the Southern District of Leflore County since 2005. He has served as municipal judge of Greenwood, Mississippi and the supervisor of its Drug Court since 2011. Attorney Palmer served as municipal judge for the City of Itta Bena from 2008-2012. Attorney Palmer also presently serves as Board Attorney for Sunflower County Consolidated School District, Clarksdale Municipal School District, and City of Itta Bena, Mississippi.
From 2007-2011, Attorney Palmer taught 11th and 12th grade social studies at Leflore County High School and 6th grade math at Leflore County Elementary School, where he also coached girl's softball and boys football, basketball, and baseball.
Attorney Palmer also gives back to his community. Since 2009, he has given annual book scholarships to graduating high school seniors totaling over $20,000. Attorney Palmer also annually sponsors and coaches Little League baseball and women’s softball teams.
Attorney Palmer is a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Hart Elks Lodge #640, Leflore Masonic Lodge #342, Edward S. Baker Consistory #145, Hira Shriners’ Temple #131, United Supreme Council 33°, Gamma Nu Boulé of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, numerous legal and judicial organizations, and is a life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
